The history of the Centre for Information Technology Continuing Education dates back to the year 1986. Centre for IT Continuing Education is department of Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) and belongs to the Faculty of Information Technology, which is the most dynamically developing faculty of TUT.

Centre for IT Continuing Education is financially independent from TUT and self-supporting organization – so Centre for IT Continuing Education can be taken as a small entrepreneurship.

Estonia has developed rapidly in IT-field. A lot of companies complain that the content of IT education is outdated. Our main goal is to provide problem-oriented and competent teaching in IT education. Recent innovations in continuing technical education have focused on these problems, leading to a search for practical material (real life cases, projects, problems) and other forms of (knowledge) input into technology education that comes from actual practice.

Centre for IT Continuing Education has a wide range of fields in computer education and training:
• text processing and desktop publishing
• calculations in financial accounting
• databases
• object-oriented programming
• digital presentations
• computer aided design
• graphical design and desktop digital imaging
• web design

Centre for IT Continuing Education also provides several services in IT-field as:
• individual teaching and training
• desktop publishing and print preparations
• analysis of existing websites (website goals, information structure, web design, etc.)
• web design and realisation of websites

In addition to teaching Centre for IT Continuing Education has participated in several international projects including TEMPUS, VISBY, Leonardo da Vinci (LOUPE); has designed and developed websites; created document templates for document management systems (for example Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn City Council and Tallinn City Government); design, layout and print preparations for different publications.
